Hello All!
I wanted to put a few reminders out there during this unpredictable time to our SCC families. Many of your students have had lessons on Digital Citizenship, Internet Safety, over the course of their middle school years. If you have an 8th grade student, I've done lessons with them since they were in 4th grade. All other classes have received lessons in their Technology classes regarding Digital Citizenship since 4th grade as well. Our current 4th grade students were just beginning a unit on Digital Citizenship, so it may not be as clear in their minds. Here are a few things you can remind your child/children during this current time when they may have a little more screen time:
Here are a few good resources that I've used with the students to discuss these ideas.

Here are a few things you can remind your child/children during this current time when they may have a little more screen time:
- Never give out any personal information to "online friends"
- This includes, name address, phone number, school name.....
- Don't be mean behind the screen! If you wouldn't say it to someones face, don't say it over the phone, computer, tablet, etc.
- If you see something, say something. This is the big idea now. If something makes you feel uncomfortable, talk to a trusted adult.
- Never agree to meet up with an online friend. If an online friend asks to meet up with you, discontinue talking to them and talk to a trusted adult.
- Don't send inappropriate pictures to any friend, boy or girl. You never know where these pictures may end up.
Here are a few good resources that I've used with the students to discuss these ideas.
